Pray where the first Catholic Congregation of Georgia worshiped.

The rural setting of the historic Church of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary offers a sanctuary to take time out of our busy lives to connect with God.

The church will be open for private prayer at 11 am. At noon, the bells will ring signaling the Angelus prayer followed by the Rosary, meditating on the Joyful Mysteries. The church will remain open until 1:30 p.m.

Purification Cemetery, across the street from the church and Locust Grove Cemetery, and Heritage Preserve, a few miles south of the church, will also be available to visitors.

Historic Crawfordville and Washington are just a few miles away and offer shopping and dining options, including Mama Chuchas in Crawfordville and spiritual gift shop, Seek, Find, Renew and The Square Cafe in Washington.

Social distancing guidelines as mandated by the Archdiocese of Atlanta will be followed inside the church.
