What is Divine Mercy Sunday?

The celebration of The Divine Mercy is an opportunity to reflect on the theme of how God’s mercy can overcome sin. Divine Mercy Sunday is celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. The origins of the Divine Mercy devotion come from the apparitions of Jesus Christ reported by Saint Faustina Kowalska, in the early 20th century, in Poland. During the course of Jesus’ revelations to Saint Faustina, He asked on numerous occasions that a feast day be dedicated to the Divine Mercy.
